2/4th Grade Boys and Girls 3vs3 Fundamental “Attack” League
This 6 week Fall session is designed to teach the basic fundamentals in a 3vs3 environment with an emphasis on, “Attack”-ing the basket. Teams will be assembled by Robert Pilsbury and Split up evenly based on skill level.
Benefits of this league include:
“Attack” ing: We will emphasis the importance of attacking the basket at any given time through a triple threat position.
Great way to teach almost all screens and cuts that you would utilize in a 5v5 offense: pass and cut, screen aways, hard curls, ball screens, dribble drive action etc...
Harder to defend: 3v3 is harder to defend than 5v5, it is more difficult to get away with poor defense so players naturally have to have better help side and ball containment.
Everyone is a guard: One of our rules in 3v3 is if you get a rebound you dribble the ball out. All players need to learn to dribble with their head up and look to advance the ball.
More touches, shots, handling the ball, passes, rebounds, etc... for players: On average players will touch the ball 1/6 of the time as opposed to 1/10 of the time in 5v5.
FUN!! Most important part of the program!
When: Thursday Evenings From 5:30-7:30pm / Starts week of October 2nd and Ends week of November 6th (6 weeks)
Outline: First Hour will be spent on skill development, floor spacing, on and off ball screens. 2nd hour will be instructional game play with a running clock and ref.

“Sophie is such a great kid and has a very high basketball IQ.” “Everyone knows that Sophie is a tremendous scorer, but over the Fall & Spring season I really challenged her to become more of a complete player by playing both ends of the court.” “She accepted the challenge and had a tremendous season” “I couldn't be happier for her and her family!” Said Blue Wave Coach Shawn Legassey
The Blue Wave Basketball Family wishes Sophie all the best in the classroom and on the court!
Letter from Sophie:
Coach Shawn & Coach Pilsbury,
I wanted to thank you for all you have done for me in a personalized letter. I am so glad you reached out to me 3 years ago!!!
My freshman year, I missed a last second shot to go into the Eastern Maine Finals. I knew then I wanted more from myself and teammates. The Blue Wave program was the answer. During my three years, I traveled all over New England and got to go to Washington, DC for Nationals. The final moments of my senior year on the basketball court was holding a gold ball. You both were with me all the way. Your effort, knowledge and commitment didn’t end that summer going into my senior year. You advised me how to reach out to potential college’s right down to the wording in my emails. It didn’t end there… school visits I had you right beside me and my parents. Always teaching the “fundamentals first” mindset in practice and games prepared me for college ball. The caring and committed relationship I had with you both prepared me for life. I am just about to sign my letter of intent for a full scholarship from Franklin Pierce and wanted to make sure I thanked you for all you have down for me and my basketball career.
