Blue Wave Basketball Fundraising Committee
Blue Wave Basketball

Fundraising Committee Announcement

As most of you already know, Blue Wave Basketball is a non-profit organization that prides itself on the fact that we have never turned a kid away for inability to pay.  This is a vital part of our identity here at Blue Wave and will remain a part of our culture even as we grow.

The amazing growth that we have seen as an organization has also increased our scholarship out-put.  In order to maintain our identity, allow kids who otherwise would not have an opportunity to afford the invaluable experiences of playing AAU basketball and still maintain competitive pricing for our non-scholarship kids; we have identified a need to enhance our fundraising goals.

We have recruited two Blue Wave Mom's who are eager to jump in and really drive our fundraising efforts.  They have some great ideas planned and they are excited to see how we can all come together as a program to make sure that all kids who want it, have the ability to learn and play basketball with Blue Wave.

It's important to remember that this is bigger than just basketball... helping these fundraising efforts is giving kids an opportunity to cultivate new friendships and networks, a safe place when they need it most and for some of our players- travelling out of state to AAU tournaments is the only opportunity they have to travel and experience being out of Maine.  For some of our scholarship players- playing Blue Wave basketball is life altering and opens doors that they wouldn't otherwise be able to walk through.  It is an amazing feeling to be able to give that chance to a child who needs it... so whenever and however you can jump in to help our fundraising efforts and events will be most appreciated and rewarding.

Andrea Jackson (207-332-0810) and Rene Hoglund (207-712-4701) will be the primary force behind our fundraising.  They will be organizing several events throughout each year to benefit Bluewave Basketball.  They can also be reached at: .

If you have any fundraising ideas- Andrea and Rene want to hear them!  If you own or work for a business that looks to donate to non-profit organizations- please let them know.

Please stay tuned for more details on upcoming fund-raisers and don't forget New Year's Eve at the Red Claws!!

Come check out the Maine Red Claws take on the Lakeland Magic this New Years Eve at 1pm!

Blue Wave Basketball will be selling tickets to the game for only $10! This is a great chance to catch the game and support the Blue Wave Basketball scholarship fund!  Plus, the game will be over with plenty of time for New Years Eve festivities!

Tickets can be ordered online by clicking HERE or you can contact Robert Pilsbury directly for them at   or .

We will also be doing the 50/50 Raffle that night so if you would like to support us that would be great!

We sincerely appreciate all of your support and look forward to some fun filled events and basketball!

Thank You-

Steve, Shawn, Dajuan, Pils & Bluewave Fundraising Committee

News and Updates

Holmes Commits to Franklin Pierce University

Blue Wave and Messalonskee standout Sophie Holmes has signed her letter of  intent, receiving a full basketball scholarship to play for Coach Jeanette Wedo at Division II Franklin Pierce.

The Ravens are coming off a 3-23 season and Sophie is expected to be a big contributor right away.

“Sophie is such a great kid and has a very high basketball IQ.” “Everyone knows that Sophie is a tremendous scorer, but over the Fall & Spring season I really challenged her to become more of a complete player by playing both ends of the court.” “She accepted the challenge and had a tremendous season” “I couldn't be happier for her and her family!” Said Blue Wave Coach Shawn Legassey

The Blue Wave Basketball Family wishes Sophie all the best in the classroom and on the court!

Letter from Sophie:

Coach Shawn & Coach Pilsbury,

I wanted to thank you for all you have done for me in a personalized letter. I am so glad you reached out to me 3 years ago!!!

My freshman year, I missed a last second shot to go into the Eastern Maine Finals.  I knew then I wanted more from myself and teammates.  The Blue Wave program was the answer.  During my three years, I traveled all over New England and got to go to Washington, DC for Nationals.  The final moments of my senior year on the basketball court was holding a gold ball.  You both were with me all the way.  Your effort, knowledge and commitment didn’t end that summer going into my senior year.  You advised me how to reach out to potential college’s right down to the wording in my emails.  It didn’t end there… school visits I had you right beside me and my parents.  Always teaching the “fundamentals first” mindset in practice and games prepared me for college ball.  The caring and committed relationship I had with you both prepared me for life.  I am just about to sign my letter of intent for a full scholarship from Franklin Pierce and wanted to make sure I thanked you for all you have down for me and my basketball career.

Thank you,

Sophie Holmes
